Frequently Asked Questions

The Answers to Your Questions

What is your Hot Weather company policy?

A good rule of thumb we adopt at Hot Diggity Dogwalker is that if you put your hand on the pavement and can not keep it there for 5 seconds because it is too hot, then it is too hot for your Dog’s paws. Hot Diggity Dogwalker recommends the short term use of Dog shoes for paw protection and a 15-20 minute walk with the remainder of the visit spent inside cooling down and enjoying some enrichment activity. For Dogs that don’t tolerate wearing footwear, we recommend a quick potty break outside followed by enrichment activities inside with a final outdoor opportunity for your pup to relieve themselves before the completion of our visit. We are very safety conscious at Hot Diggity Dogwalker and always carry water with us for your pup and even have cooling vests that they can use on hot day walks or you can supply your own!

What is your Cold Weather policy?

Frostbite can occur in dogs as little as 15 minutes when temperatures are below freezing. The most susceptible areas for dogs are their paws, ears and tails. Hot Diggity Dogwalker recommends the use of a winter coat especially for short haired breed dogs. The roads and sidewalks are often treated with caustic salts and may even have antifreeze on them. Hot Diggity Dogwalker recommends the use of dog shoes to protect the pads of their paws. The wind chill factor is also a consideration at freezing temperatures and can dramatically increase the risk of wind burn. In these cases we suggest limiting walks to 15 minutes with the remaining time spent indoors with enrichment playtime and a final potty break before the end of the visit.

We ask clients to keep the path from the road to their front door free of snow and treated with pet friendly ice melt for their pets safety and our dog walkers too. If roads are icy and we are not able to reach your pup, we ask that our clients have at least 2 emergency backups, one of whom lives in the neighborhood.

What Holidays does Hot Diggity Dogwalker recognize?

We observe the following Holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Easter
  • Memorial Day
  • July 4th
  • Labor Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Note: a surcharge noted in our client agreement will be charged on Holidays.

What is your Cancellation policy?

Whilst we understand that life happens, we do try to keep to a schedule and ask our clients to give us as much warning as possible for cancellations. We require 48 hours notification for Dog Vacay stays, Wedding services and Petcare visits and at least 24 hours for next day Dog Walking and Dog Transportation services.

Does your company use an app?

Yes we do! Once we have completed the introductory phone interview, we invite our clients to download the “Time to Pet” app and complete the onboarding form. A meet and greet will then be scheduled and services booked upon successful completion of that meeting. Our app allows clients to schedule services, upload information about their pets, make payments and see where their pup walks with the GPS feature. We are able to communicate to you by sending out report cards, photos and videos.

What services does Hot Diggity Dogwalker offer?

We specialize in services for dogs such as Dog walking, Puppy visits, Senior Dog care visits, Dog Wedding services, scheduled Dog Transportation to and from vet offices, groomers and doggie daycare facilities.Dog vacay stay services are in the Hot Diggity Dogwalker’s home where your pup will experience a private resort style inclusive stay. Their routine will be kept as close to normal whilst becoming part of our family. We limit vacay stays to one households’ Dog(s) at a time so we can focus completely on their physical and emotional wellbeing during your absence.

We also offer cat visits for clients on vacation with a daily 30 minute visit 1-2 times a day. Although Cats are often considered more self-sufficient than Dogs, they can get themselves into a predicament with their curious nature. Cats benefit also from daily mental stimulation whether playtime interaction or just having someone around. We require at least a once a day visit to ensure your cat has a clean litter box, clean water, food and is visibly accounted for.
